THE successful "green box" recycling scheme is to be extended to the Bulk area of Lancaster.
An extra 2,600 households will now be able to separate newspapers, magazines, plastic bottles and food and drink cans from their refuse to be collected fortnightly.
The scheme is to help reduce the area's waste mountain and Environment Chief, Cllr Jerry Sutton, said: "We hope everyone in this area will take full advantage of this worthwhile scheme. If every household in the district cuts down its waste by 25 per cent then the amount of refuse going into landfill at Salt Ayre would be reduced by a staggering 1400 bin lorries each year."
