THE Christian season of Lent is prompting a series of religious debates in churches throughout Accrington.
The first discussion, organised by the the Accrington Team Ministry, invited people to state their views on baptism as part of Sunday worship.
The debate was held in St James' parish centre in Cannon Street.
Other planned statements to be examined include the following subjects: "Sunday morning worship should take the same form throughout the Church of England", Wednesday, March 10, St Andrew's Church, Swiss Street; "Weddings should not be performed in the Church of England", Wednesday, March 17, St Clement's Church, Green Haworth.
Each debate, starting at 7.30pm, is chaired by Peter Crook with ministers speaking for and against proposals.
The end of the debates season will be marked on Wednesday, March 24, with a Passover Meal at St Peter's Church, Richmond Street.
