AN armed robber escaped with a cash box after threatening a security guard at gunpoint outside Prescot Post Office.
The robbery took place at about 1.05pm on Wednesday, February 17, when the security van pulled up outside the Aspinall Street office. As the guard went to enter the post office, a man, who had been hanging around in the doorway, suddenly pulled out a gun and ordered him to drop the box.
The robber then picked it up and ran off.
However, the man was caught on one of the security cameras as he waited in the doorway and police are hoping this image will jog someone's memory.
Witnesses have described the robber as white and about 5ft 8/9ins tall. He was wearing glasses, a dark-coloured donkey jacket, jeans and trainers. He is also thought to have been wearing a dark woolly hat.
