JASON Wilcox wore the captain's armband against Newcastle United in the FA Cup replay on Wednesday and, by my reckoning, that makes him the fifth different player to lead the team this season.

Tim Sherwood, Chris Sutton, Billy McKinlay and Stephane Henchoz have all skippered the side on previous occasions but, of course, Sherwood has long gone and the other three were injured in midweek.

AMONG a host of top coaches at Ewood on Wednesday night were Alex Ferguson and former German national team coach Berti Vogts.

Vogts is set to rejoin his former club Borussia Moenchengladbach as a director in a bid to help steer them to safety.

He played more than 400 games for the once-proud club - who signed Patrik Andersson from Rovers - but they are struggling at the bottom of the Bundesliga these days and facing relegation.

COLIN Hendry is still hoping to return to action this season and play a positive part in completing a prestigious double - championship medals on both sides of the border.

The injured ex-Rovers star last played for Scottish champions-elect Rangers on January 23. With 11 games remaining, they lead the Premier League by 10 points from Celtic and Hendry expects to be back before the race is settled.

"Things are progressing well. I met a specialist in London who told me I would not need any surgery on my groin," he said.

"He did say, though, that a bit of rehabilitation work would be required to strengthen the area and that will take a bit of time."

AFTER another lengthy gap in the fixture list, the Reserves have a game against Everton at Widnes RL next Tuesday (7pm).

LIVERPOOL provided the home and away opposition for the Academy teams this morning and, next Saturday, March 6, QPR are heading for Brockhall.

Both the under-17s and under-19s are at home to Rangers, with kick-off time 11am.

THE FA Cup exit means that Rovers are without a game next weekend, when the quarter-final ties are being played.

They should have been at home to Everton, who will visit Newcastle in the cup.

Tickets for Rovers' Premiership game against Everton, re-arranged for Wednesday, March 10, at Ewood (7.45pm), are now on open sale at category B prices, £18-25 adults, £10 concessions where applicable.

Everton have been allocated the Jack Walker Stand side of the Darwen End.

SEATS for the game against Coventry at Highfield Road on Saturday, March 13 (3pm), are now on sale, price £20 adults, £10-50 juniors and senior citizens.

Any remaining tickets may be on sale at Highfield Road on the day of the game but, if so, there will not be any concessionary prices available, so fans are advised to buy their seats in advance.

Seats for visiting fans at Highfield Road are situated in the Mitchells and Butler Stand upper tier, which is along the side of the pitch.

THE Pontin's League Premier Division game at Liverpool, scheduled for Monday, May 3, has been put back 24 hours to Tuesday, May 4, and the away game at Nottingham Forest has been re-arranged for Tuesday, May 11, at the City Ground (7pm).

Two reserve matches postponed earlier this month, away to Aston Villa and at home to Preston North End, have still to be allocated new dates.

LATEST Double Your Money Club £500 winner is D Greenhalgh (Accrington), number 369A.

ROVERS Return winners from the last two home games are: Sheffield Wednesday £1,120 Mrs H Brennan (Blackburn), number 119830, autographed ball L Armstrong (Blackburn), number 116876; Newcastle £910 Mr O'Keefe (Blackburn), number 125493, autographed ball unclaimed, number 124375.

Prizes can be claimed from the lottery office at Ewood.
