VANDALS caused more than £1,000 worth of damage when they went on a wrecking spree at Clitheroe Castle.
They smashed up a wooden bench, damaged a bowling green and broke lights in the Castle grounds.
Police believe youngsters caused the damage and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
The vandals struck sometime on Fridayevening and a passer-by reported the damage to the police.
Smashed beer bottles were found at the scene and police say they have been called to the Castle on several occasions following complaints about rowdy youths.
Ribble Valley Council was also notified about the damage.
Anyone with information should contact Clitheroe police on 01200 443344.
