POLICE are to send a report to the Crown Prosecution Service on a road accident in which an elderly woman was seriously injured and later died.
Mary Latham, 80, of Chapelhouse Road, Nelson, died in Burnley General Hospital on February 5, eight days after the shunt outside her home as she was getting out of car.
Sergeant Russell Gregory, of the police road safety unit at Burnley, said a file was being prepared for the CPS which would decide if criminal proceedings should go ahead.
An inquest was opened and adjourned to allow her funeral to go ahead.
A full hearing is expected shortly.
