MUSICAL school kids have been given a boost with hundreds of thousands of pounds of government cash to buy new instruments and have special lessons.
Blackburn with Darwen Council has got £310,000 while Lancashire County has received £686,000.
The cash for Blackburn with Darwen includes £70,000 to buy new musical instruments and £110,000 to pay for music lessons for 500 students each week.
All the cash is to expand provision for music in the borough.
Lancashire's money is also to expand services and will pay for music lessons for 6,700 pupils.
£50,000 of the cash will pay the fees for specially deprived but talented children.
The money comes from a national allocation of £41 million to support music.
