A COUNCIL-backed group which helps disabled people set up their own businesses had a "phenomenal" response when it extended its service into Rossendale.
Burnley-based East Lancashire into Employment provides guidance and advice from the Haslingden Community Link centre on Tuesday mornings from 10am-noon.
The group, which is backed by council and European funding, has successfully worked in Cavour Street, Burnley for the past 10 years, helping set up businesses ranging from consultancies to cultural crafts, retail to horticulture. Organiser Jean Weaver says anyone with a health problem who has an idea or hobby they think could be turned into a business, should contact either Burnley on 01282 456186 or call at Haslingden Link on 01706 230116 on Tuesday mornings for an initial chat.
Centres can also give expert advice on benefits which are available.
Said Mrs Weaver: "Our help allows people to work to a maximum of their capabilities but within the boundaries imposed by their disability.
"With the right support and working conditions, many achieve very successful businesses."
