LETTERS have been sent to worried parents after a nursery nurse was struck down by suspected meningitis.
The 29-year-old woman is receiving treatment in Blackburn Infirmary.
Public health officials at the East Lancashire Health Authority have written to parents of pupils at the Blackburn nursery.
A spokeswoman said a decision had been taken not to give antibiotics to any youngsters at the nursery which has not been named.
She said: "The letter goes into detail about why children have not been vaccinated, or been given antibiotics."
The nursery nurse is among four new suspected cases of meningitis which has taken the East Lancashire total to 27 since Christmas.
The other three are pre-school children from Pendle and Rossendale.
