VILLAGERS were urged to hire a private security firm to patrol their streets after a wave of burglaries and car thefts in picturesque Salesbury.
Ron Barker, landlord of the Bonny Inn, sent letters to 250 households asking them to pay 50 pence a week each to hire security guards to patrol the area.
