LEIGH ATHLETIC won a tense and eventful match against Rivington.

But Athletic lost goalkeeper Steve Hilton, sent off for handling outside the area, and Jimmy Evans and Darren Barclay did well as sub goalies.
The previous week Athletic beat Old Boltonians 3-0, Danny Wilson 2 and Walker on target.
Athletic U16s are cock-a-hoop this week as they savour one of the great wins.
They beat Bolton Lads Club in the Bolton Foys Federation Jubilee Cup, winning a thriller 5-4 - their first home defeat in any competition for three years and their first defeat in any game for 36 matches.
Birchall, Calland and Higson scored in normal time; then goalie Smith saved an extra-time penalty before Calland and Bohannan scored for a high five.
Athletic Youth lost 2-0 to Rivington, while the U16s won 5-1 at Ladybridge with goals from Philips 2, Parker, MoM Birchall and Burgess.
EAST LEIGH U13s reached the Cup semi-final with a 1-0 win against Bruche, Kieran Halliwell's pinpoint header the decisive strike. Mom was Chris Kay.
They also beat Rope & Anchor 4-2, Kay again MoM for a commanding performance at the heart of the defence while the goals came from Chris Priest 2, Halliwell and a first-of-the-season from Sean Peers.
