The spotlight has already fallen on the group of Year 9 students at West Craven High, Barnoldswick, filmed by the BBC yesterday.
The six songsters are Andrew Gilmour, Gavin Horsfield, Gary Lancaster, James Robinson, Matthew Dickinson and Jonathan Rushton.
They put together "The Millennium is Here" and beat competition from within the school to go forward as West Craven's entry in the national Voices of Promise contest, sponsored by Marks & Spencer.
The song, written by Gary with music by Andrew, will go to a regional heat and the winners to the national final in May 2000 at the Dome.
The overall winner will be recorded and sold as a CD for children's charities.
The boys were due to feature on North West Tonight at 6.30pm.
David Parkins, head of creative arts at West Craven, said: "The BBC wanted to feature two schools from opposite ends of the region so they chose us and one in Cheshire."
