IT'S GOOD to talk, somebody once said.
And the Burnley management and players have put that theory to the test ahead of tomorrow's clash at play-off hopefuls Wigan Athletic.
In the aftermath of last Saturday's drubbing by Gillingham, the Burnley squad have held talks with the management team of Stan Ternent and Sam Ellis and amongst themselves.
And captain Gordon Armstrong believes getting the team's recent problems out in the open has been a positive step towards reversing the Clarets slide down the table.
"We had a big, long chat and everybody had a bit to say. We have got to build now," said Armstrong.
"There are a lot of new lads and a lot of things have changed so it was good for them to hear other people's views. It was a good meeting."
Talk is cheap unless results follow, of course. But the Burnley squad appears single-minded in their quest to reach an estimated 50-point safety target.
"We know what we've got to do," Armstrong added.
"We've got 13 games left to get as many points as we can, whatever it takes to stay up - that's the position we are in now.
"We have got to start winning some games."
