PRESTON'S Andy Flintoff has been called up for England's Cricket World Cup team, due to take place in this country during the summer.

Flintoff, currently touring with the England A team in South Africa, will join the 15-man squad along with three other players from Lancashire Cricket Club.

The 21-year-old, who went to Ribbleton Hall High School, hit his career-best 145 last Friday which ensured his place in the England squad.

Andy said: "I knew the squad was being reduced this week so to find out I am in the 15 is great.

"I wasn't expecting to be there, although I was hoping I would be.

"I scored runs on this tour, knocked a couple of 80s and bagged the century last week. It was good to get the hundred because they get remembered."

Selectors say they were impressed by Flintoff's improvement in fitness and weight since the end of last season.
