IT'S heartening to hear how this cobwebby column manages to spin itself around the world - thanks to the wonders of the Internet.
Latest overseas response comes from Pam White, formerly of Newton-le-Willows, who now has a highly-successful career in international holiday travel.
Pam, settled in Kansas City, writes: "Imagine my surprise and pleasure when your name and column flashed up on my computer screen."
Pam, who adds that she greatly enjoys reading Internet extracts from the Star, is the daughter of former Newton police chief Wilf Beuden.
"I get over to see my father quite often," she reports, "and will call in on you next time."
RIGHT, Pam, I'll hold you to that 'date'!
