GREEN fingers are fading from fashion.
Gardeners shows were regular events in the local social diary but nowadays only Tyldesley Allotments Association stages competitions.
But if you think you can grow the best cabbages in town or a leek that would take a week to eat you still have a chance to prove it.
Association secretary Tom Patrick said: "Our vegetable show is being held on the last Saturday in August. It's the only one in the Leigh, Tyldesley and Atherton area and is open to anyone who wants to enter."
Prospective entrants should contact him at 13, Shakerley Road, Tyldesley, M29 8ER.
