I WRITE in response to the letter by Councillor Tom Sharratt (Citizen February 25) who says that I stated in my letter of February 18 that the pavements throughout the borough are fouled with dog dirt.
I would like to inform Coun Sharratt that I said no such thing.
What I said was that although there was some fouling of the pavements in Lostock Hall, it was nowhere near as bad as Mr Breakell was making out.
Coun Sharratt is advising me to obtain a copy of a report from
the council offices regarding the provision of an extra dog warden.
I have two points to make:
Just what difference does he think ONE extra dog warden is going to make; and
If Coun Sharratt and his fellow councillors are going to give approval to the implementation of new bylaws then they should also ensure they put the means in place to allow the bylaws to be adhered to.
I have no intention of obtaining a copy of the report and of keeping it close at hand.
Why? Because after my experiences with previous councillors who, when asked about something, give their stock reply: "I will look into it and get back to you," I am still waiting, several years later.
So Coun Sharratt, in view of this, you will find me as far away from the polling booth as possible on May 6. You are all tarred by the same brush.
