SOCCER: Steve Elmer was the star of the show as Witton Wanderers won the Witton Winter League's Committee Cup.
Elmer hit four goals with Andrew Gregson scoring the other as Wanderers beat Waterside 5-3 in the final.
First round games in the Symonds Cup took place this week.
Second Division Medin had the best result in beating First Division Grace Christians 6-1. Witton Wanderers and Manxman also progressed through.
The first batch of second round fixtures has also taken place with Mill Hill Wanderers just beating the Lancashire Evening Telegraph 2-0.
Bowland Wanderers had the easiest of fixtures running out 10-1 victors over Blackburn Aztecs.
Witton Wanderers found the step up in class too much and went down 7-1 to Manxman.
