Knutsford 0 St Helens 4 TWO more goals by league hot-shot Paul Horton secured St Helens Hockey Club's eighth straight league win leaving them within touching distance of promotion. But it took the Blues 20 minutes to get going when Horton fired home the ball from the top of the D for goal number 29 of the season. The 1-0 half time scoreline reflected St Helens player shortage and it took another Chafer short corner before the Blues could extend their lead over lowly Knutsford. Quick thinking captain, Phil Travis, spread the ball wide to Paul Dobson whose half-hit shot fell to Horton for a simple tap-in. Then the striker went on a 30-yard run to set up Alan Travis' strike from close range. Mark Pendlebury made it two goals in as many games following up Burton's shot which was well-saved by Knutsford's keeper. The Blues' last home league game against Winnington Park this Saturday starts at 1.30pm.
