Latchford A 8 Clock Face Miners 16 A WEAKENED Clock Face were still too strong for basement club Latchford, as they continued their push for promotion.
Clock's defence, well led by John Hayhurst, Gary Devine, and Graham Leadbetter, restricted Latchford to two penalty goals in the first half.
A further two penalties after the break saw Clock trailing by eight points, and with just 20 minutes left, they finally got onto the scoresheet.
Carl Thompson set up the try when opened up the Latchford defence and a neat inside pass to the supporting Wayne Prescott saw the hooker go over near the corner.
Just after this forward Steve Ludden had to leave the pitch with an ankle injury, and as Clock had no substitutes, they played the rest of the game with 12 men.
Undeterred by this loss Clock struck again when Devine managed to pass out of a tackle to Steve Rybczynski who raced from the halfway line to score between the posts, Karl Walker's conversion giving Clock the lead.
Dean Barber then secured the points for Clock with a great solo try from his own half, taking the ball from acting half back he weaved through the Latchford defence before outpacing everyone to the line, Walker added on the conversion.
