CITY councillors this week approved a £2.3 million investment package for Council homes in the district.
The lion's share of the cash, £815,000, will be spent in the Marsh estate in Castle ward with improvements to 106 properties including refurbishing kitchens and bathrooms.
Just over half a million will be spent on external refurbishment of 36 properties on the Trumacar Estate, approximately £14,200 for each house for renewal of to the windows, doors and roofs.
Council Housing chief, Roger Sherlock, said: "We are making a significant investment in improving our council homes.
"Our tenants deserve to live in decent, secure and affordable homes and we are committed to continued improvement in raising our standards."
