A LEIGH drug addict had sunk so low he was living unwashed, in a dog kennel when he committed a string of offences a Crown Court was told.

Since then, there had been a major change in the life of Karl Pasquill, 23, of Maple Avenue, Lowton, his counsel Mr Andrew Long stated at Bolton.

He said Pasquill had been given a home by a woman family friend who was severely affected by arthritis. He added that Pasquill was now working with the local community drugs team to free himself of dependency on heroin.

Pasquill pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, stealing petrol, burglary and supplying heroin as well as a number of bail offences.

Neil Fryman, prosecuting, said that aggravated vehicle taking case involved a police car chase of a stolen Austin Montego driven by Pasquill in which speeds of 110 mph were reached. The chase ended outside the Beehive pub in Bolton where the four occupants abandoned the car but were caught soon afterwards.

The drug charge resulted from a police raid on a house in Henrietta Street, Leigh.

Pasquill was in the house at the time of the raid and admitted having supplied a £10 wrap of heroin to another man present.

Judge John Roberts sentenced Pasquill to a total of three-and-a-half years' imprisonment and banned him from driving for two years.
