A BLOT on the Sutton landscape is to be given a new lease of life - thanks to a generous donation by Barclays Bank and the Groundwork Trust.
The old children's adventure playground in Gerrards Lane has fallen into disrepair in recent years, becoming an eyesore for local residents and a regular haunt of vandals and drug-users.
But all that is set to change with the news that the environmental scheme, Barclays Sitesavers - a partnership project between Barclays and Groundwork - is to invest £10,000 into creating a new community park on the land. This will include wheelchair access footpaths, an improved secure boundary, site clearance and an enhanced wildlife habitat.
The refurbishment work, entitled the Sutton Millennium Green Project, will be run by Groundwork St Helens but local residents will be helping with every stage of the work.
