POLICE in St Helens are appealing for witnesses after a knife-wielding robber threatened staff at an off-licence before escaping with the contents of the till.
The robbery happened at about 7.35pm on Tuesday, February 23 at Huttons off-licence in Four Acre Lane, Clock Face.
The robber walked in and pulled out a large carving knife as he approached he counter. Terrified staff were ordered to open the till and the man then snatched the money and made his getaway. Police believe he may have had an accomplice waiting outside the shop.
He is described at between 25 and 30, white, 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall and stocky with a pale complexion. He wore a three-quarter length dark jacket, dark trousers and a black woolly hat and police would like to speak to people in the shop at the time or who had just left who may have information.
