LEIGH'S pub cricketers are gearing up to play on the hallowed turf of Lord's.
A team from the town's Pub League has been invited to appear in a prestigious six-a-side comp in May as a curtain-raiser to the World Cup.
Delighted chairman Simon Chapman, a member at Middlesex for some years, said: "We will be the only Lancashire representatives in the tournament. It's a great honour."
Each of the teams in the league, established in the mid-80s, will select a player for the squad. "We want it to be a fully representative team," added Simon, who bats for The Avenue.
