DIGNITARIES from all over East Lancashire came to Blackburn last night to attend one of the highlights of the civic year.
Mayors and council officials from councils throughout the area joined their opposite numbers from Blackburn with Darwen Council for the Mayor, Coun Florence Oldfield's big night.
Money raised from the event will go towards Coun Oldfield's Golden Years fund which has been raising cash for various charities for the elderly at the end of the civic year in May.
Mrs Oldfield said: "About 240 people attended the ball and it was a great night.
"I would like to thank all the groups who performed and also the mayoress and charity workers who all helped make it such a success."
