THE life and work of Lancashire poet and author Benita Moore will be recounted at the Weavers' Cottage, Rawtenstall, on Thursday.
Rawtenstall Civic Society has organised the event. Guest speaker will be Benita's widower Gordon.
Benita known affectionately as 'Mrs Lancashire' was awarded the MBE in June in the Queen's birthday honours, but lost her brave battle against breast cancer a fortnight later. Her family travelled to Buckingham Palace in December to collect the honour.
Benita, of Rising Bridge, was well-known in the Rossendale Valley and was a regular visitor to the Weavers' Cottage. Some of her books will be on sale at the talk which begins at 2pm.
