BREWERY staff are the toast of their colleagues!
Employees at the Whitbread site at Samlesbury received awards of gift vouchers under the company's Rewards and Recogniton Scheme - and 15 are now heading for the national finals.
The scheme is for staff who come up with bright ideas on how to improve the brewery operation and to recognise special achievements by individuals and departments.
In 1998 101 nominations were put forward to the scheme involving 195 employees. At least £250,000 in cost savings has been achieved through improvements suggested under the scheme.
And the best performers under the scheme go through to the Whitbread national finals, called the 'Night of the Stars'. A total of 15 staff from Samlesbury are this year heading for the event being staged in April.
