A WORKMAN was shot in the head with an air gun as he excavated a road in the middle of the Stoops and Hargher Clough estates, Burnley, scene of rioting two years earlier.
Doctors struggled to remove the pellet, which had lodged close to a blood vessel only two inches from his eye.
