IT WAS another bad day for fixtures as eight out of the scheduled 15 fixtures were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
Thankfully, the four pitches which were the venues for the quarter-finals of the Blue and White Rosebowl Cup were passed fit and they were all decided at the first time of asking although the Old Toll Bar tie against Bee Hive went to extra time.
On a very heavy pitch the score was goalless after 90 minutes, but inside two minutes of extra time the Old Toll Bar keeper Lee Greenacre failed to cut out a right wing corner and Lee Dobson headed Bee Hive into the lead. The match was settled midway through the second period of extra time when a Simon Baxter goal sealed Bee Hive's semi-final place. The Station strikeforce of John Eastham and Paul Mashiter proved far too much for Lord Raglan. Eastham hit four and Mashiter three, with Trevor Holden getting a consolation goal for Lord Raglan.
First Division Darwen Alexandra saw off Division Two leaders Servicemaster with a six-goal victory. Their goals came from Steve Lynch (two), Denny Khan (two), a John Haworth penalty and an own goal. Third Division James Street took an early lead against First Division leaders Kings Inn, with an Ian Storey goal.
Kings Inn however recovered from the shock and went through to the semi-finals with goals from Paul Guihan (two), Warren Peake, Mark King and Michael Douglas.
In the semi-finals Bee Hive meet Kings Inn while Darwen Alexandra are paired with Station.
In Division One Jubilee gained three valuable points with a victory over an under-strength Sell on Site. Jimmy Rasul and Denny Khan each scored twice for Jubilee whose other goal came from Akil Kadir. Stuart Keane got both Sell on Site's goals.
In Division Two, Witton Inn after a run of postponed matches, wee pleased to find that their match against Dexter Paints got the go ahead. With 30 minutes left two goals from Lee Casey had put Dexter Paints well in command. Witton Inn then staged a remarkable comeback and clinched a victory with goals from Lee Carus, Shaun Smith and Dave Cox.
Sign & Poster remain firmly at the foot of Division Three following another defeat, this time at the hands of Longshaw whose goals came from Mick McKay and Chris Doody.
