JASON Lobo has been selected to run the 800 metres for England as they compete against South Africa for the first time since the apartheid era. Also taking part in the match in Pretoria will be an International Select Team.

Jason will be flying out with the team for an extended visit to train at altitude in the Johannesburg area with top local runners. He will also take part in other low key races during his stay.

Last month he flew to America for an outdoor mile race at Boston, but with a field of 16 runners on a tight track and a slow paced race, the athletes bunched, and he was tripped. That incident apart, his training has been going well with the accent on high mileage over the winter months.
