A BID to save dozens of jobs was under way today.
Workers being made redundant by Karrimor are being offered the chance to work in a new factory which could be set up in the Accrington area.
A fortnight ago Karrimor announced up to 80 job losses at its Clayton-le-Moors site after decided to stop manufacturing to cut costs.
The firm said it was planning to move production to a factory in the North East.
But businessman Graham Lord, of Trubend Manufacturing in Bacup, is negotiating with workers and Karrimor about setting up a new factory locally to carry out the manufacturing.
Trubend Manufacturing makes nursery products and already supplies products to Karrimor.
Talks were continuing today between Mr Lord and Karrimor staff.
