TYLDESLEY RU faced opposition from a higher division for the fourth time this season.
And again they came out ahead with a 15-5 victory against Rossendale.
They began well with intense pressure leading to a try for Gary Corbett out on the right touchline.
And the pack then set up more quick penetrative drives for scrum-half Lee Cunliffe to dig the ball out and time his pass for prop James O'Connor to crash in.
But a combination of lack of concentration and silly mistakes allowed Rossendale to stay in touch.
Just before the break, however, stand-off David Sivill made an angled break before sending a perfectly-weighted ball for Corbett to grab his second try.
Rossendale came back in the second half, but not enough to trouble Tyldesley.
Tyldesley are back in league action next week when they travel to Ormskirk.
The Seconds suffered their first defeat of 1999, going down 17-3 to Rossendale.
ATHERTON RU juniors met Tyldesley in a double-header. The U11s won 25-10 with tries from Richard Newsham 2, James Harrison, Peter Barley and Peter Hilton; the U9s drew 0-0 with good efforts from Scott Fazackerley, Cory Duddle and Liam Costello.
