THE mother of a baby girl who died just hours after it was born has been charged with manslaughter.
The child, which was never given a name but was referred to as Baby Greenwood when coroner Andre Rebello opened an inquest into her death, was found abandoned in a carrier bag five days before Christmas in the back garden of a house in Neath Close, Blackburn.
The 23-year-old mother of the baby has now been charged with unlawful killing and appeared before Blackburn magistrates yesterday.
Marysia Greenwood, of Tenby Close, Blackburn, was bailed and is now set to stand trail at Preston Crown Court.
Emergency workers tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead when she was taken to Queen's Park Hospital.
An inquest into the child's death has been opened and adjourned awaiting police inquiries.
