AUNTY Mary Murray raised a 100th birthday glass but puckered her lips at the contents.
Champagne or not, after a non-alcoholic century Leighite Mrs Murray wasn't about to change the habit of a lifetime.
Her sister-in-law Janet Crusham explained: "She never smoked, drank or wore make-up. The only time she went in a pub was to clean the 'Live and Let Live' which her brother, Tom, kept in Twist Lane."
Mrs Murray lived in the Twist Lane area and became popularly known as 'Aunty Mary' because she looked after the offspring of her nine brothers and sisters. She is a patient at Leigh Infirmary.
On Sunday hospital staff helped her celebrate with an afternoon family party. She is pictured with nursing assistants Beverley Moore and Lena Somerville and student nurse Andrea Smith. 103/98/15
