AS the year 2000 approaches, many people's thoughts are turning towards both the Millennium and the computer bug. But another important event is looming - the abolition of every Briton's right to buy a pound of sausages.
For the sake of harmonisation, the European Union is seeking to abolish the British system of measurements which has served this country well for centuries.
The British people need to put pressure on their local MPs to try to get this proposed legislation revoked. We must act now to protect our own choice of which system of measurements to use.
