YOUR story (Feb 26) about the 94-year-old man who was robbed in his home for just £20 brought back horrific memories for me.
In December it was also reported on the front page that my grandmother was robbed in her home for £20. A week later she died. I agree with Mr James Chew's daughter-in-law that people who do this kind of thing are the lowest of the low.
The thug, who claimed to be collecting old Yellow Pages, pushed his way into her home and manhandled her. She never recovered from the trauma and died eight days later, aged 92.
Although the robbery itself did not kill my grandmother, the shock of it certainly did not help.
These thugs need to realise that elderly people are mothers, fathers and grandparents. How would they feel if it happened to their family?
