IT'S been many things in its time - Camelot, Oz, even the Taj Mahal - but this summer Lancaster's Ashton Memorial will be transformed into Baskerville Hall for the latest promenade play.
With money tight at the Dukes they've gone for just one play in the park this season and it's Arthur Conan Doyle's classic "The Hound of the Baskervilles" with the legendary Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick, Dr Watson. It's more than 100 year since Conan Doyle wrote this classic about the famous detective. With its strong sense of location, the bleakness of Dartmoor and the enduring presence of Baskerville Hall - it's a tale of terror, intrigue and laughter full of dastardly deeds and mysterious goings on. Adapted and directed by Simon Corble, who starred as Neville in the autumn comedy smash hit "Neville's Island," it's sure to to be a hugely enjoyable night out. Tickets have gone on sale for the production that runs for six weeks starting July 15. For more details call 66645.
