A MORECAMBE paramedic has called for action to be taken before someone is seriously hurt at Ovangle Roundabout after a teenage girl's lucky escape this week.
The 19-year-old local woman lost control of her car as she was breaking on approaching the roundabout.
It's thought her wheels had become stuck in deep grooves caused by the number of lorries who use the roundabout coming from Heysham and she then skidded.
The paramedic explained: "She's been unable to turn and skidded on the roundabout and gone over a four feet ditch there. She was very, very lucky she didn't fall in it because she would have been seriously hurt. She only had bruising and abrasions but she was shook up. We took her to work where she could have a cry with her friends.
"There's also a two feet hole there which they keep filling up but which keeps reappearing. I don't what they can do about it - there's a sign there which says 'local traffic only' but I don't know how they can enforce it. We've had a couple of incidents there and I just hope nothing serious happens."
