St Helens Hockey Club Winnington Park 1 A LAST-gasp winner by Phil Travis kept St Helens on the promotion trail. The Blues needed to win their last two games to guarantee promotion, but the visitors dominated the first half. Man of the match Mike Hall made a string of stunning saves to keep the lively and well-organised visitors at bay. And it wasn't until 18 minutes into the second half that St Helens finally got going. Mark Pendlebury crossed Tony Chafer's short corner and after the ball had defelcted over the Winnington keeper Phil Travis fihd home his 18th goal of the campaign. However, the Northwich outfit equalised after a dubious short corner and a draw looked on the cards. But with time running out St Helens forced three short corners adn it resulted in Phil Travis firing home a great winner.
