Southport 3 West Park 34 PARK marched confidedntly into the semi-final of the Lancashire Trophy.
For apart from two 10-minute periodseither side of the half-time they were well in control of this game.
During this period Southports goalkicker Matt Murphy managed only one successful kick from four attempts in reply to Park's half-time 16-point lead.
Martin Strett had kicked two penalties and the conversion of Sean Fletcher's try which came from a good line-out take and a forward drive from 20 metres out. A third Strett penalty awarded for foul play completed the first half scoring.
Park, however, suffered the loss of hooker Mark Nolan with a recurrence of a neck injury, prop Keith Hill moving to hooker and Scott Goodfellow coming off the bench into the front row.
A quickly taken tap penalty by Strett put Park's man of the match, flanker Phil Houlton, over for a well deserved try, Strett could not convert but added another penalty as Jason Brookes and Harmon Tuavao came on as replacements.
After scrum-half Steven Briers had scored Park's third try, Tuavao proved unstoppable with the final try from 40 metres in the last minute.
Park will have to wait to know their semi-final opponents as the Rochdale St Edward's OB tie was postponed with West Park therefore seeking replacement opponents.
