RIBBLE Valley MP NIgel Evans has challenged transport minister Glenda Jackson to come to his constituency and justify fuel prices to local haulage firms.
Mr Evans said that lorry firms in the UK were paying the highest petrol and diesel prices in the world.
And speaking in the commons he cited the case of haulage operator Clive Carefoot of Longridge.
"He told me that many drivers were filling up their tanks in France where the diesel is 30 per cent cheaper and then coming back to England to continue their work.
"Hauliers can save thousands of pounds a year by doing this and it is taxation lost to the British Exchequer. In effect Britain is exporting its taxes."
Now Mr Evans has asked Glenda Jackson to come to the Ribble Valley and see the impact of high diesel prices by speaking to firms in the area.
