GRAHAM Branch heads into Burnley's big screen test against Preston tomorrow bidding to keep his own television series going.

Branch boasts an impressive goalscoring record in live televised games from his time at Tranmere and Stockport.

And Burnley would love him to open his goalscoring account at Turf Moor to help the Clarets beat Preston in front of the Sky cameras.

"I've always done all right in televised games," Branch confirmed.

"I've scored three goals in two games so hopefully I can keep that going. Although I won't mind if I don't as long as we win."

Branch may be handed a striking role again as he continues to deputise for the injured Andy Cooke.

And the New Year signing from Stockport won't mind a bit as it's a job he enjoys doing and one he hopes will bring the best out of him against promotion-chasing North End.

He added: "I'm lacking a bit of confidence as well. I know since coming here I haven't really performed to what I'm capable of but I feel every game I am getting stronger.

"I know we got whacked the other night but I enjoyed playing up front. I enjoy running with the ball and taking people on and it gives me a chance when I'm playing up front when I get a lot more of the ball."

Confidence is a massive factor for the Clarets at the moment and a relegation-easing victory tomorrow would give them a massive shot in the arm.

"Obviously we haven't won for a while so there's going to be a lack of confidence thing going on. It's just really important not to concede an early goal and to get at them," Branch said. "I think for the first half-an-hour against Man City we more than held our own.

"But they scored one and all the lads' heads seemed to go down, and against Man City you can't afford to do that.

"We are pulling in the same direction, although it might not always seem that way.

"I think different people react in different ways with a lack of confidence. But we have got to work it out. The only people who can do it are us, out on the pitch.

"I know the gaffer has come in for a lot of stick but at the end of the day it's down to us. We are the ones that go on the pitch and have to perform.

"We've got teams in the next month or so who are down there with us so if we can win tomorrow maybe it can act as a springboard for better results.

"It's very important. The fans are very good here, the fans are very loyal. Obviously they weren't very happy with Gillingham which, to be honest, was a disgrace.
