HOT-SHOT hitman Andrew Dickson may have to bow out of Hawks' English Premier League campaign closing chapter at Swindon tonight (face off 5.30pm) - but could make a last stand at home tomorrow.
Hawks go looking for two points at Swindon to secure third place on the EPL rostrum, before bringing the curtain down on the season with a one-off special event against a representative side from the English Division One at the Arena (6pm).
But Dickson, Hawks' top scorer this season, could miss out after hospital treatment on his eye this week - a hangover from a rough and tumble affair against Chelmsford last Saturday.
"Andrew got a clattering on the boards last week and has needed hospital treatment on both his eye and his cheek," says player-coach Bobby Haig. "He's not 100 per cent although he has been in training. He's showing the right attitude because he's desperate to play - but he'll still have to undergo a medical before the game. "It's an important game for us to win tonight because we want to go out of the season on a high note. It's been a tough year for us, but if we can hold on to third place then we'll be happy."
Tomorrow, Hawks fill the gap left by Milton Keynes' switch to midweek with a "best-of-the-best" ED1 clash to end the campaign.
"We didn't want to end the season with an away game at Swindon!" says Hawks spokesman John Neville.
"It's a bit of fun to bring down the curtain on the season, so the supporters can see it out at home. We've taken the best lines from the English Division One teams who aren't in action this weekend, and got them all together for just one night. We staged a similar game a couple of seasons ago and it proved a great success."
Hawks miss Jimmy Pennycook (back) and Tom Burridge (shoulder) for both games.
Defenceman Gordon Whyte scooped a double at the Supporters Club end of season presentation dance last night, picking up both the Supporters' and Player's Player of the Year awards.
