TORY MP Nigel Evans is revved up over government plans to allow the European Union's twelve-star symbol to appear on British car number plates.
The Government is to allow the use of the symbol on number plates, but not the flag of St George or the Union Jack.
Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans accused the Government of insulting people and said they should be allowed to choose for themselves. "By forcing English motorists to use the European Union symbol on car number plates, the Government is denying them the right to express their Englishness and Britishness. The Government must think again. If it does not, it will demonstrate that it prefers to deny individuals the right to choose for themselves and is prepared to sacrifice our national identity for greater European integration," he said.
