BACUP and Rawtenstall Grammar School's Under-14 netball team are the new national schools champions after clinching the title at the finals in Brighton.
The schools' Under-14 and Under-16 teams both competed in the finals at Roedean.
And while the senior side finished fourth in their group with a record of three wins, two draws and three defeats to miss out on a place in the final, the Under-14s went all the way.
In the semi-final they beat Fairfax Grammar School from Sutton Coldfield 15-8 to set up a final clash with Gable Hall School from Essex.
After drawing 4-4 at half-time, Bacup and Rawtenstall stepped up a gear in the second half to clinch an 11-7 win and the national crown.
"It was a remarkable day," said coach Sue Smith. "The girls deserve all this success as they train hard and are committed to practice.
"I would like to thank all the people who supported, especially the parents and staff."
