WORLD Superbike champion Carl Fogarty has gone back to the future in his bid for an amazing fourth title.
The Blackburn ace asked his Ducati Performance team to attempt to recreate the 1995 model on which he won 13 of 24 races.
And early tests in Misano would point to an instant success. Fogarty smashed the lap record but team-mate Troy Corser was even faster.
Changes to last year's bike included a slimmer fuel tank to aid movement around the bike and different forks to aid cornering.
The brakes are different and lighter wheels have also been tested.
Foggy told the Motor Cycle News: "I've spent the last two years asking for my '95 bike back.
"Now I just hope I can match the results I was getting then. The new brakes are good because they don't fade towards the end of a race distance test!"
