CHATBURN have clinched promotion from the East Lancashire League Second Division of the East Lancs League following their narrow 1-0 win at Ribchester.
This has been a remarkable turnaround by the village side who ended up last season next to the bottom of Division Two with only three wins from 24 matches.
Although Whinney Hill remain favourites to take the title - they have five games in hand with a 10 point gap, Chatburn can be proud of their achievement in winning promotion.
Worsthorne won the top of the table clash in the First Division, running out 3-0 winners over champions Crosshill to inflict the first defeat of the season on the Yorkshire side. Crosshill have still two games in hand on Worsthorne who have now won their last nine games.
Both teams have still to meet Oswaldtwistle who are a force to be reckoned with and must surely figure in the race for honours, having a number of matches in hand over the leading sides.
