A POLICE clampdown on motorists netted more than 40 people who were breaking the law in one street.
Patrols carried out spot checks on tyres and seatbelts on vehicles in Whalley Road, Clayton-le-Moors, over two days.
Fixed penalty notices were issued to 41 people who were not wearing seatbelts or whose cars had defective tyres.
Inspector Bob Ford said: "Serious injuries in accidents are directly linked to people not wearing seatbelts."
