BURNLEY haven't had much to cheer about in the recent past but it was two of their potential stars of the future who sealed victory for Trawden.
For Shane Singleton and Ian Ross, members of the Burnley School of Excellence, both grabbed two goals apiece, each hit the woodwork and they generally ran the show.
Singleton gave a real captain's performance with the goal of the game, while Ross got the ball rolling with the opening strike of the match.
But, while everything the star duo seemed to touch turned to gold, spare a thought for Earby's Adam Wheeler who did everything but score.
Wheeler, the smallest player on the pitch, was brave and strong in every challenge but foiled no fewer than five times by Trawden keeper Ben Gorman.
On another day Earby could have got something out of the game with Joel Howard in magnificent form in midfield and was unlucky with one effort that rattled the crossbar.
But there was no stopping the Singleton and Ross and, after the latter opened the scoring, Thomas Rushton grabbed a lucky second which by his own admission was a cross rather than a shot. Joe Spencer should have put Trawden three up when put clean through but fired just wide.
Earby keeper Ricky Taylor did well to foil Rushton but from the resulting corner by Singleton, Ross latched on to the lose ball to grab his second goal of the game.
After the break Earby continue to push forward in search of that elusive goal and Graham Wiseman went close after a powerful run and substitute Kyle Taylor also went close with a drive across the box.
However it was Taylor who was the busier of the two goalkeepers and first he did well to parry a palm over a Ross shot from the edge of the area and then bravely went in where it hurts to fist away the resulting corner.
But there was nothing he could do to keep out Singleton's super opening goal when he robbed Wiseman in the middle of the park, cut inside two defenders and slotted the ball under the keeper.
Wheeler then nearly got his name on the scoresheet for Earby when he latched on to a good ball by Joe Murphy took it away from his marker but showed a little too much to keeper Ben Gorman who did well to clear the danger.
And Gorman had a big part to play in Trawden's fifth goal when his long clearance fell to Thomas Farthing who released Singleton who scored his second of the day. However Earby never gave up their hunt for that goal and it came courtesy of some fancy foot work from Howard who drove the ball across the area from the byline and Taylor was on hand to score from five yards out.
It was no more than Earby deserved but on the day there was nothing that was going to stop Singleton and Ross.
